In Ca(NH/sub 3/)/sub 6/ doped with Eu, the EPR signals of both Eu/sup 2 +/ and the conduction electrons are observed simultaneously, and the low-temperature EPR spectrum of Eu/sup 2 +/ in Sr(NH/sub 3/)/sub 6/ is suggestive of a structural phase transition. In metal-hexaammine compounds lightly doped with Eu, the interactions between the Eu/sup 2 +/ moments and between the Eu/sup 2 +/ moments and conduction electrons are very weak. The EPR signals of both solvated electrons and Eu/sup 2 +/ spins are observed in dilute solutions, and there is a rather strong magnetic interaction between the solvated electrons and Eu/sup 2 +/. EPR of divalent europium has been used to probe the nature of metallic metal-hexaammine compounds and dilute metal-ammonia solutions in the concentration range 6.2 x 10/sup -6/ to 5 x 10/sup -3/ mole percent metal.
